Preparing to work is often more than learning a particular set of skills. Many returning citizens first need to address the trauma they have experienced in their lives before entering the workforce. Some job training programs take this approach.
At ETLS, Inc. we provide our residents with job skills, resume writing, interview readiness, dress for success and so much more.
The ETLS, Inc. employment assistance program targets soft skills development and job readiness, and focuses on each of our residents' strengths to prepare them for employment. Topics that are covered when preparing residents for employment include:
Developing job search strategies
Navigating questions about their criminal history
Writing effective cover letters and resumes
Learning to interview and share information in mock interview sessions
Additional skills taught to residents while at ETLS, Inc. will be:
How to be a "good" employee
Dealing with authority and respecting those in authoritative roles
Time management and prioritization
Professional and effective communication
Conflict resolution and problem- solving
To support long-term stability and success, our Mentors assist residents with other skills such as, how to make better decisions, both within their personal lives and at work, and to maintain a clean and sober lifestyle.
